The University of Denver Counseling and Educational Services Clinic provides a community service for adults, adolescents, children, couples and families with personal, career, family, educational and other life concerns. The Clinic offers counseling, assessment, consultation, support and therapy groups, as well as referrals to other community services when appropriate.
The Clinic provides a unique training experience for counseling psychology masters and doctoral students. Live team supervision is offered through state of the art technology. A licensed psychologist leads the supervision team, which provides the opportunity for students to contribute and receive feedback in a team setting. Students receive supervision mid-way through counseling and assessment sessions, which enables students to immediately adjust counseling interventions and assessment feedback to best serve the needs of their clients. The Clinic also conducts ongoing research in the areas of treatment preference, treatment effectiveness and problem gambling. Students are encouraged to become involved in Clinic research to bridge the knowledge between research and practice, consistent with the counseling psychology program’s scientist practitioner model.
The Clinic strives to provide culturally competent services to the community. Clinic fees for service are determined on a sliding scale fee schedule. We are committed to providing services to the community, regardless of ability to pay.
The Clinic is a training and research facility for the Counseling Psychology and the Child, Family and School Psychology programs. Counselors are doctoral, educational specialist and master’s students who are supervised by doctoral-level psychologists.
