Financing your Graduate Education

We understand that financing your education is of upmost importance to you.  We are committed to providing you a high quality education, while trying to keep costs within reason.  There are multiple scholarship options available to you, with a 100% of our students receiving scholarship awards.  There are a multitude of ways to reduce cost, including DU’s flat rate system (tuition is a flat fee from 12 – 18 credit hours), see below.

  • Scholarship: This total does not include any scholarship funding. Students typically receive between $20,000 and $30,000 in the form of the MCE Dean’s Scholarship over the course of their degree.
  • Annual tuition: tuition per quarter x 3 (fall, winter and spring quarters; summer quarter is not included)
  • Rates: Rates are based off of 2016-17 tuition rates, currently $1258.00/quarter credit-hour. Future years are subject to change and can affect this cost estimate
MA with Clinical Mental Health Concentration

  • Entry Term – Fall quarter
  • Credit Requirements – 90 credit hours
  • Typical Course Load – 13-15 credits hours per quarter
  • Typical Duration – 6 academic quarters (2 years)
  • Typical Scholarship Award – $20,000 – $30,000  
MA with School Or Research Concentration

  • Entry term – Fall quarter
  • Credit requirements – 72 credit hours
  • Typical course load – 8-14 credits hours per quarter
  • Typical Duration – 6 academic quarters (2 years)
  • Typical Scholarship Award – $20,000 – $30,000

MCE Dean’s Scholarship

  • Awarded to all students.  No separate application necessary.
  • Amount varies by program and merit.
Graduate Teaching/Research Assistantships (GTA/GRA)

  • Selected by each department/program chair.
  • Candidates are selected based on needed skill sets.

Gift and Endowed Scholarships

  • Over 40 donor-funded awards.  Many awards cover multiple students.
  • Your MCE application automatically ensures you are considered for all applicable awards.
Grant Awards and Fellowships

  • Many of these opportunities open at the start of each academic year.

Other Assistantships and Employment Opportunities

There are a variety of assistantships and student employment opportunities available to Morgridge students. These positions are offered from sources including those within MCE’s academic units, administrative departments, Kennedy Institute for Educational Success, Marsico Institute for Early Learning & Literacy, and the Institute for the Development of Gifted Education.
