A special discounted boot camp hosted by the University of Denver’s Center for Professional Development in partnership with the Graduate School of Social Work, Morgridge College of Education, and the Graduate School of Professional Psychology!
The process of starting your own private practice can be daunting. You’ve gone through the licensure process and have significant field experience, but what next? On top of the common challenges of running a small business, including marketing, finance, and operations management, running a private practice requires additional understanding of ethics, branding, and legal challenges. How will you manage your relationships and boundaries with your clients? Can you navigate insurance and documentation requirements? How do you get the word out about your practice?
Join the University of Denver’s Center for Professional Development, in partnership with the Graduate School of Social Work, Morgridge College of Education, and the Graduate School of Professional Psychology for an intensive half day workshop focused on starting and expanding a clinical private practice. Sessions are geared towards students, DU alumni, and community members who have an interest in what it takes to launch and grow a successful private practice. Each session, led by expert alumni from one of the aforementioned programs, will provide a broad overview of an essential concept related to starting your own private practice.
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
- Evaluate types and benefits of starting a private practice
- Clarify the business and personal branding skills necessary to start their private practice
- Examine ethical relationships, boundaries and how to professionally maintain a social media presence
- Explore various options for insurance and documentation
- Decipher licensure requirements for social workers and psychologists
