The Toddler Classrooms at the University of Denver’s Fisher Early Learning Center serve children ages 18 to 36 months in a warm, relationship-centered environment that supports this exciting stage of rapid growth and discovery. Our program is grounded in research-based curricula, including the Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) and Creative Curriculum (CC), which emphasize strong teacher–child relationships, responsive care routines, and thoughtful observation to guide individualized learning. Low ratios and consistent routines allow teachers to nurture trust, encourage independence, and support each child’s unique development.
Through play-based learning, strong supportive routines, and hands-on exploration, toddlers build language, practice self-help skills, and develop social-emotional and cognitive abilities across all areas of development. We partner closely with families to create a welcoming community where every child feels safe, confident, and eager to learn each day.
Victoria has been a part of this school community for the past three years, growing both personally and professionally along the way. She began her journey in the Cowboy Bunnies classroom and has spent the past two years in the Moon Bears classroom. Starting as an associate teacher, she advanced into a lead teacher role through dedication and experience.
Victoria takes pride in building strong relationships with both students and families and is committed to nurturing each child’s development through patience, creativity, and care.
Magda Smith, Associate Teacher
Magda (any pronouns) is excited to be joining the Fisher team. During the 2024–2025 school year, Magda worked in special education at an elementary school and quickly developed a passion for working with children. Most recently, Magda served as a Registered Behavioral Technician at a clinical center providing ABA therapy to children with autism. While grateful for the experience and impact of that work, Magda is excited to return to the school setting.
Originally from Michigan, Magda moved to Denver in August 2025 and looks forward to making a meaningful impact in the community through supporting and nurturing Denver’s children at Fisher. Outside of work, Magda enjoys reading, drawing, and spending time in nature, including a month-long backpacking trip hiking the coast of Oahu last summer. Magda is passionate about creating a safe, enriching environment where children feel respected, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Oriana McCauley, Continuity of Care Associate
Oriana is excited to be joining the community at Fisher Early Learning Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education, with a minor in Behavioral Analysis, from the University of North Texas. She raised her family in the same community and has three children—two sons and a daughter. Her youngest son recently graduated from high school, and the family is thrilled to begin a new chapter in Denver.
At home, Oriana has three cats and a dog who keeps things lively. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, music, spending time outdoors, reading, caring for animals, and continuing to learn new things.
