Fisher students benefit from being part of a vibrant university community at Fisher Early Learning Center, located on the campus of the University of Denver. Throughout the year, children regularly explore campus on neighborhood walks, visiting different buildings and experiencing campus life in action. Favorite adventures include watching the DU National Champion hockey team practice at Magness Arena, playing outside under DU's famous Carl M. Williams Carillon and Bell Tower, running and playing on the central campus greens, and taking field trips to places like the Community Commons dining hall, academic buildings, and the library. Each classroom also enjoys a monthly gymnastics session at DU’s gymnastics facilities where the kids tumble, jump, and learn how to to safely move thier wiggly bodies alongside The Ritchie Center's gymnastics students and staff.
Fisher families are part of a rich calendar of shared community events as well. Highlights include DU's Fall Homecoming celebrations, WeRead Storytimes in partnership with DU's Graduate School of Professional Psychology, Fisher's Spring Fling (welcoming new families and exploring the school), Fisher's Back-to-School Night for parents and caregivers, and Fisher’s adults-only Holiday Gathering in December.
In addition to campus exploration and community traditions, Fisher classrooms celebrate many special moments connected to the curriculum and classroom learning. These include beloved traditions like the Rainbow Fish Classroom’s annual art show and community field trips that bring classroom topics to life. In the warmer months, Fisher classrooms look forward to weekly Water Days on the playgrounds, when kids gear up to splash, squirt, spray, and soak up the sunshine outdoors! Families also enjoy informal gatherings at local parks and breweries, School Picture Days, Fisher Movie Nights, and classroom celebrations throughout the year. These joyful traditions strengthen relationships, showcase children’s creativity, and help build a warm, connected school community.
