Purple Coyote Classroom

The Early Preschool Classrooms at the University of Denver’s Fisher Early Learning Center serve children ages 30 - 48 months in a welcoming, play-rich environment designed to support growing independence, creativity, and social connection. Our experienced educators provide thoughtful guidance and individualized support as children expand their language, curiosity, and confidence.

Through play-based learning, hands-on exploration, and predictable daily routines, children strengthen early academic foundations, practice problem-solving, and build meaningful friendships. We partner closely with families to create a supportive community where every child feels valued, capable, and excited to learn each day.

Classroom Teachers

Kelsey Benney, Lead Teacher

Kelsie is excited to get to know the classroom community. This will be her first year as a Lead Teacher in the Purple Coyotes classroom and her third year at Fisher. For the past two years, she worked as an Associate Teacher in the Friendly Sea Turtle room, which helped shape her passion for early childhood education.

Kelsie has lived in Denver for about three years. Before moving to Colorado, she lived in Kansas, where she earned her degree in Psychology from Kansas State University. She grew up in Virginia and also lived in Germany during her high school years. Prior to joining the Fisher community, she worked as a Registered Behavior Technician providing therapy for children with autism. She is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at the University of Denver while continuing her work at Fisher. Kelsie looks forward to building relationships with families and supporting each child’s growth and development.
