Infant Classroom

The Infant Classrooms at the University of Denver’s Fisher Early Learning Center serves infants 6 weeks to 18 months in a warm, relationship-centered environment designed to support their earliest growth and development. Our Infant/Toddler program prioritizes deep, trusting relationships between children, teachers, and families, with low ratios and fewer classroom transitions that allow educators to provide responsive, individualized care and create a strong foundation for social-emotional development.

Guided by the Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC), teachers implement primary caregiving, small group experiences, continuity of care, individualized learning, culturally responsive practices, and inclusive support. Through nurturing routines, sensory-rich experiences, and meaningful partnerships with families, we ensure every infant feels safe, valued, and supported each day.

Classroom Teachers

Emily Burns, Lead Teacher

Emily Burns is excited to be part of the Fisher team once again. She studied Early Childhood Education at the University of Northern Colorado for four years and graduated with her bachelor’s degree on May 10, 2025.

Emily brings many years of experience working with children from birth through 2nd grade. She has previously subbed at Fisher in several infant and toddler classrooms and served as the lead Fisher summer camp counselor for two years. During her time at the University of Northern Colorado, she completed practicums in both 2nd grade and Kindergarten, and spent five months student teaching in a 1st grade classroom at Orchard Hill Elementary School in Windsor, Colorado.

She is deeply passionate about working with young children with diverse needs. Emily finds her greatest joy in meeting children where they are developmentally and supporting their growth every step of the way.

Ollie Knight is an associate teacher in the Roly Polys classroom at Fisher Early Learning Center. Originally from Maryland, Ollie recently relocated to Colorado in early August with their dog, Styx, and their spouse, Micah.

Ollie attended college in Baltimore, where they majored in child psychology and gender studies.
