Professional Biography
Garrett Roberts, PhD, BCBA-D, is an associate professor at the University of Denver. He earned his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin and has a diverse background, including service as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique, a Fulbright-Hayes Scholar in Ethiopia, and a special educator in Hawaii and Oregon. Dr. Roberts served as project director for a National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)-funded Learning Disability Resource Center, which focused on reading interventions for upper elementary students with reading comprehension difficulties. He recently completed an Institute of Education Sciences Early Career Award (2019-2024) to develop and evaluate an integrated behavior support component for small group reading interventions. To continue this line of research, Dr. Roberts was awarded an NICHD R01 grant (2024-2029) to conduct a multi-site longitudinal randomized controlled trial including reading interventions with integrated behavior supports for students with co-occurring reading and behavioral attention difficulties. His research interests focus on integrating reading and behavioral interventions to support students with co-occurring difficulties.
