Professional Biography

Dr. Lolita A. Tabron is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) in the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver and a faculty affiliate at the Interdisciplinary Research Institute for the Study of (In)Equality (IRISE) and the Scrivner Institute of Public Policy.

Dr. Tabron critically examines how P-12 educational laws, policies, and leadership practices shape students' preparedness for college and their opportunities to access higher education and postsecondary careers. Particularly, her work amplifies the voices and experiences of historically marginalized groups in public schooling, specifically focusing on African American/Black youth and educators. Racial justice is at the heart of her research, driving her dedication to building bridges in education by translating her findings to inform impactful public policy and leadership practices across all levels of schooling, from pre-kindergarten to college.

Dr. Tabron has received prestigious awards for her research and teaching contributions. In 2019, she was honored with the Jack C. Culbertson Early Career Award from the University Council of Education Administration, which is given annually to an outstanding junior educational leadership professor in recognition of significant contributions to the field of educational leadership. In 2024, she received the Review of Research Award from the American Educational Research Association, which recognizes the most outstanding research review article published in the Review of Educational Research (RER) or the Review of Research in Education (RRE). Additionally, Dr. Tabron has been recognized by the University of Denver for her excellence and contribution to impactful teaching and mentoring.
