Application Information

Admission Requirements

Applicants for both graduate certificates within the School Counseling program are evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Earned master’s degree that meets one of the following requirements.
    1. Master’s degree from a CACREP-accredited program.
    2. Master’s degree from a CACREP-equivalent program, as determined through the Center for Credentialing & Education's (CCE) Colorado LPC Educational Equivalency Application (found here) The official results of your review must be included in the application to be considered for admission.
  2. Earned a master’s degree from a CACREP-accredited (or equivalent) program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. A cumulative GPA of 3.5 is recommended.

All applicants must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, along with official transcripts from all institutions they have attended. Applicants with a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 must also submit additional supplemental materials for admission review.

Additional Supplemental Materials

  1. A letter of recommendation, preferably from a faculty member of the program where the applicant earned their CACREP-accredited (or equivalent) master’s degree.
  2. A video recording (maximum 10 minutes) addressing the following prompts:
    1. Describe your professional background and what influenced your decision to pursue this profession.
    2. Outline your professional goals after earning this certificate and how they align with the program’s mission.
    3. Share any academic or other considerations you would like the admissions committee to take into account when reviewing your application.
