Dr. Belansky is the Director of the Morgridge College of Education’s new Center for Rural School Health & Education.  Trained as a social psychologist, Elaine’s research is about how university and community partners can work together to translate evidence-based research into practice in school settings to increase students’ health and happiness. She has received funding from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The Colorado Health Foundation, and the Colorado Department of Education. Most of Elaine’s teaching focuses on program planning and implementation in which she teaches students how to use Intervention Mapping to develop theory-based public health promotion programs. In 2009, she won the University of Colorado’s President’s Teaching Excellence Award .
